PT-141 (Bremelanotide) 10mg
Bremelanotide melanocortin receptor agonist — CNS-acting research peptide with unique receptor profile.
What is PT141?
PT-141 (Bremelanotide) is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide and non-selective melanocortin receptor agonist. It is a metabolite of Melanotan II and acts primarily on MC3R and MC4R receptors in the central nervous system. Unlike PDE5 inhibitors, PT-141 acts centrally rather than peripherally, making it a valuable research tool for studying CNS-mediated pathways.
Key Features
- Selective CNS melanocortin receptor agonist
- Distinct mechanism from peripheral vasodilators
- Well-characterised MC3R/MC4R binding profile
- High purity ≥98% verified by RP-HPLC
Mechanism of Action
PT-141 activates melanocortin receptors (primarily MC3R and MC4R) in the hypothalamus and limbic system. MC4R activation in particular has been extensively studied for its role in energy homeostasis, sexual function pathways, and inflammation modulation. The central mechanism of action distinguishes PT-141 from peripherally acting compounds and makes it useful for studying CNS melanocortin signalling.
Research Applications
- Melanocortin receptor (MC3R/MC4R) pharmacology
- Central nervous system peptide signalling research
- Energy homeostasis and appetite regulation studies
- Hypothalamic pathway investigation
- Comparative melanocortin receptor agonist studies
