HCG 5000 IU
Human Chorionic Gonadotropin 5000 IU lyophilised formulation for endocrine and reproductive research.
What is HCG5K?
Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) is a glycoprotein hormone composed of two non-covalently linked subunits: an alpha subunit shared with LH, FSH, and TSH, and a unique beta subunit that confers biological specificity. HCG 5000 IU is a research-grade lyophilised preparation for laboratory investigation of gonadotropin signalling pathways.
Key Features
- 5000 IU high-activity formulation
- Lyophilised for maximum stability
- Verified by bioassay and immunoassay
- Batch-specific COA provided
Mechanism of Action
HCG binds to and activates the LH/HCG receptor (LHCGR), a G-protein coupled receptor expressed primarily in the gonads. In the testes, this stimulates Leydig cells to produce testosterone. In the ovaries, it triggers ovulation and supports corpus luteum function. HCG's structural similarity to LH makes it a valuable tool for studying gonadotropin receptor pharmacology.
Research Applications
- Gonadotropin receptor binding and signalling studies
- Steroidogenesis pathway investigation
- Reproductive endocrinology research
- LH receptor pharmacology
- Corpus luteum function studies
